Western National Parks Association (WNPA), a nonprofit partner of the National Park Service (NPS), home-based in Oro Valley, Arizona is seeking a Director of Retail who will provide leadership and guidance to the Operations Managers, Operations Trainer, and the Craft Manager who support the operation of retail stores across 71 national park sites in 12 western states.WNPA is seeking a visionary and strategic leader who will provide leadership and guidance to retail Operations Managers and the Operations Trainer to execute operational strategies and support the day-to-day operations of the retail stores. This position will require you to collaborate with the Chief Partnership and Revenue Officer to make sure that the execution of strategy of the strategic plan is successful.   • Provides guidance, direction, and works closely with Operations Managers in all aspects of retail management to develop annual operating plans to ensure mission focus, sales growth, and alignment with park partners.
  • Manages staffing plan and departmental expenses, including oversight of the development of the annual budget.
  • Oversees Operation Managers in the incorporation of products as needed and sets guidelines for product lines and mix to ensure an appealing selection of products that support the organization's mission and the NPS interpretive and educational goals.
  • Oversees and manages personnel functions such as selection, training, evaluation, staffing levels and compliance for seven direct reports and their 100+ full and part-time sales force.
  • Manages store layout and design, merchandising, inventory control, and sales.
  • Oversees point of sale system, supports new product development, and analyzes sales data.
  • Reviews sales performance data to measure productivity or goal achievement to ensure program improvement.
  • Design, generate, review, and analyze sales and financial reports to assess performance by product, store, park unit and region.
  • Interacts with other departments to ensure retail operations reflect organization-wide efforts
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned or requested.TRAVEL
    • Position requires frequent travel both in and out of state by car (driving) and/or air, including overnight stays to various WNPA sites or to special events.PHYSICAL DEMANDS

        • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent
        • Minimum of five years' professional multi-retail sales management, preferably with cooperating association experience or similar specialty retail environment.
        • Prior supervisory experience.
        • Experience with POS systems development, implementation, and management.
        • Experience collaborating with and influencing cross-function teams.
        • Experience with variety of computer programs including but not limited to Internet, databases, Video conferencing software (i.e. Zoom) and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint).
        • Demonstrated ability in handling conflict resolution.
        • Ability to thrive in a multi-tasking, high-energy environment with shifting priorities.
        • Ability to analyze and solve practical problems, deal with a wide array of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, and maintain attention and focus in the performance of duties.
        • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with employees, agencies such as the National Park Service, and park visitors.
        • Ability to create, analyze and interpret sales models and reports.
        • Ability to compose reports, proposals, business correspondence, and procedures.
        • Must be able to convey and communicate complex information, terminology, policies, and procedures.
        • Must be able, as necessary, to seek guidance, use discretion, and properly manage employee relations issues as required for the protection of the employee and WNPA and in compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws
        • Must be able to analyze retail sales systems and procedures, including product mix, merchandising, customer service, signage, and other associated functions.
